Currently, there have been multiple incidents of voltage sags in Hong Kong
Below are the details of two recent incidents:
On April 19, 2023, power system failures in areas including Southern District, Eastern District, Wan Chai, and Pokfulam in Central District resulted in voltage sags, causing surrounding buildings and businesses to go dark. Within an hour, nearly 100 incidents of trapped people and false fire alarms were reported.
On March 17, 2023, an explosion at the Fei Ngo Shan substation caused brief voltage sags and power outages in multiple areas, with 160 elevator reports and 50 false fire alarm reports.
According to the information provided by CLP Power Hong Kong Limited regarding voltage fluctuations
Electricity has greatly facilitated our daily lives. However, it is difficult for power systems in all cities to completely avoid the occurrence of voltage fluctuations. Voltage fluctuations do not necessarily lead to a power outage; rather, they refer to brief fluctuations in voltage. This situation can be influenced by various factors, such as interference from trees, weather conditions, damage to underground cables due to road construction, or faults in power facilities. Generally, a voltage fluctuation refers to when the voltage drops below 90% of the standard value for a duration of no more than 0.1 seconds. Some electrical appliances in households may be affected, such as lights flickering or air conditioning momentarily turning off and then back on. Certain elevator designs are more sensitive to sudden changes in voltage. When a voltage fluctuation occurs, operations are temporarily suspended, and the expertise of a skilled technician is required to restore normal functioning.
These incidents demonstrate the significant and real risks that voltage sags and power outages pose to your equipment and business.
We recommend using our OKY Dip-sag Voltage Compensator
To ensure that your equipment is protected, we recommend using our OKY instantaneous power failure voltage sag compensation device.
Our compensator is a reliable solution designed specifically to compensate for momentary voltage sags and power outages, ensuring that your equipment remains protected and in optimal operating condition.
In addition, we would like to introduce some product features of OKY LTD. The company was established in July 1992 and its products are made in Korea, with the following advantages:
• DVC instantaneously backs up power within 2 milliseconds (average 1.2ms) using an inverter system when momentary power failure or sag occurs, to perfectly prevent damage to the load equipment (guaranteed backup time: 1 second in 100% load).
• DVC is available in both single-phase and three-phase versions, with the single-phase version ranging from 300VA to 30KVA, and the three-phase version ranging from 5KVA to 300KVA.
• DVC is reliable and durable, with a lifespan of up to ten years and no maintenance costs, and features a natural cooling design that does not require cooling fans or batteries, operating quietly.
• Both the output and input ends of DVC are equipped with filters to improve power quality and prevent equipment failures.
